Hyloren Nikita

Sometimes you draw a character just for the sake of drawing them. This is Hyloren, a character I did a colorstudy of many years previous to this drawing. ( [link] )

Hyloren Nikita, affectionately called a reject of Hell, is one of the most beloved of all my characters.  He's mean, he's nasty, violent, cunning, cruel, and just about every other bad adjective you can attach to one person.  He is one of the nogitsune, but has mastered the art of Necromancy as well as various forms of martial arts and other magics.  The son of a dark god, Hyloren was born under already strained conditions. When his mother sold him into slavery things spiraled further downward. He was placed in an arena, as a gladiator beast, and eventually won his freedom. He has been "killed" twice and managed to return from the grave both times, once by pledging himself as a servant of death on earth, and the other by reincarnation (which did nothing to improve his disposition).  Hyloren has a long painful history of violence, and has since become dead to all things that should hurt him.  His one joy is his half-brother Marcus (who is equally deranged, but not as violent), and the two are rarely separated.   Hyloren takes his job as a death servant very seriously, but it can't be said he doesn't have a sense of humor. Hyloren has fought for his survival through appalling conditions, and has somehow managed to find a place for himself in the world. Now he is a mercenary and assassin of the highest creed, with his own morals and values that he passes on to those he trains.
